What You'll Be Doing
Wake County EMS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Applied Technology team. This individual will have the technical knowledge to provide management of and support to a variety of technology applications in use by the EMS system. This person will have tasks that range from troubleshooting equipment that is not functioning correctly to developing and implementing project plans around new technology ventures.

Essential Functions:

Administer, support, troubleshoot, and monitor business unit IT systems to meet business needs and requirements
Configure, test, deploy, and maintain system applications, upgrades and patches ensuring that interfaces between other business applications remain functional
Create documentation for administrative tasks, change management and configuration settings
Serve as subject matter expert, providing business unit consultation and training for supported IT systems
Maintain working knowledge of business unit IT systems, product road maps and feature updates
Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements
Coordinate changes and updates and track trouble tickets escalated to vendors
Serve as a project lead or resource for IT projects associated with supported business unit
Proactively communicate project schedules and logistics with customers and peers, participate in meetings and provide technical input
Enhance personal proficiency and knowledge of county information systems and technology
Stay current with IT industry trends and explore ways to effectively apply new technologies to the work of Wake County government

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field
Three years of job-related experience

Two years of experience in information systems support, including troubleshooting problems with laptop and desktop computers and mobile networking equipment
One year of experience working directly with customers, both in-person and via telephone to resolve technology issues
Two years of experience in identifying and troubleshooting issues with biomedical, LTE/mobile data, land mobile radio, and other technology equipment used in EMS
Two years of experience managing technology projects, including project design, implementation, and evaluation

Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in North Carolina.

• Serves as driver/operator and single caregiver on wheelchair transport van; transports patients to medical facilities, nursing homes and medical appointments as necessary.
• Gathers patient medical and insurance information from the patient, family members or bystanders and inputs into the computer.
• Completes necessary records and reports for emergency calls including information for billing documentation and legal accountability.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Harnett County's Emergency Medical Services Department is currently seeking an eager, responsible and reliable Paramedic to perform professional advanced life support work when operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and performing advanced emergency care including the administration of life sustaining treatment to patients on-site and while en route to hospital.

Harnett County is nestled in the heart of North Carolina between Raleigh and Fayetteville, covering 641 square miles and taking care of over 130,000 citizens. Harnett County prides itself on having innovative protocols, providing excellent patient care, and being integrated with today's best practices. Innovative cardiac monitoring is provided to the community with the use of the latest Zoll X Series monitors. The County has 16 Paramedic level ambulances based around the county, 3 BLS transporting units and a wheelchair van each shift that responded to just over 25,000 calls last year. The units are supplied with the power load system from Stryker to prevent injuries to the providers. The County also has a Tactical Medic team that responds with the Harnett County Sheriff's Department during classified situations.

Salary will be determined based on years of experience:
Up to two years of experience:$40,774 ($3,397.83 Monthly), includes shift scheduled overtime
Two to five years of experience: $44,444 ($3,703.67 Monthly), includes shift scheduled overtime
Five or more years of experience: $46,890 ($3,907.50 Monthly), includes shift scheduled overtime
* No penalties or pay deduction for time off, all unscheduled overtime paid at time and a half rate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serves as Paramedic in charge on calls, directing care and response and overseeing work of assigned Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician's; supervises students assigned to ride.
• Responds to emergency calls in an ambulance or quick response vehicle and performs necessary medical care and rescue work in accordance with established protocols for advanced life support; administers necessary emergency medical care requiring the use of a variety of specialized equipment.
• Performs emergency medical acts in accordance with protocols established by the department and the County's Medical Director; administers cardiac and narcotic medications via intravenous line, administers specified solutions by intravenous infusion, performs pulmonary ventilations and obtains EKG's for cardiac diagnostics.
• Performs patient assessment and life support techniques in accordance with the approved protocols.
• Transports patients to local and regional medical facilities, maintaining contact with medical staff while in transport and assuring care of patient; oversees treatment and care for long-term care patients on transport to other facilities, hospitals or doctor's offices.
• Completes full patient care documentation through various paper and electronic based formats during and after calls for service including information for billing documentation, and legal accountability.
• Participates in a continuous training program to maintain certification and improve competence in medical technical work and operation; studies street and road patterns and networks of the County in order that future runs may be made with minimum difficulty and delay.
• Inspects and tests response vehicles and their emergency equipment, maintaining proper inventory of equipment and supplies; cleans and sanitizes equipment daily; ensures that they are in proper and good working order; makes routine adjustments, but reports other than minor defects for specialized attention.
