What You'll Be Doing
Wake County EMS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Applied Technology team. This individual will have the technical knowledge to provide management of and support to a variety of technology applications in use by the EMS system. This person will have tasks that range from troubleshooting equipment that is not functioning correctly to developing and implementing project plans around new technology ventures.

Essential Functions:

Administer, support, troubleshoot, and monitor business unit IT systems to meet business needs and requirements
Configure, test, deploy, and maintain system applications, upgrades and patches ensuring that interfaces between other business applications remain functional
Create documentation for administrative tasks, change management and configuration settings
Serve as subject matter expert, providing business unit consultation and training for supported IT systems
Maintain working knowledge of business unit IT systems, product road maps and feature updates
Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements
Coordinate changes and updates and track trouble tickets escalated to vendors
Serve as a project lead or resource for IT projects associated with supported business unit
Proactively communicate project schedules and logistics with customers and peers, participate in meetings and provide technical input
Enhance personal proficiency and knowledge of county information systems and technology
Stay current with IT industry trends and explore ways to effectively apply new technologies to the work of Wake County government

Wake County EMS is a cutting-edge emergency medical services system that is responsible for providing EMS services throughout Wake County including within each of the county’s 12 local municipalities. We have well-developed mobile integrated health (community paramedicine) and research programs. We responded to over 120,000 requests for 911 EMS services in 2021. The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field
Three years of job-related experience
Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Two years of experience in information systems support, including troubleshooting problems with laptop and desktop computers and mobile networking equipment
One year of experience working directly with customers, both in-person and via telephone to resolve technology issues
Two years of experience in identifying and troubleshooting issues with biomedical, LTE/mobile data, land mobile radio, and other technology equipment used in EMS
Two years of experience managing technology projects, including project design, implementation, and evaluation
Experience with data transmission technology including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi platforms
Experience working with a Public Safety Department or Governmental Agency
Experience working in a Central Square (formerly TriTech) Inform CAD environment, particularly regarding mobile client configuration and the mobile hardware used with the application
Programming experience with Extensible Mark-up Language (XML), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Java scripting and workflow design for user interface screens
Must have an active North Carolina driver’s license, not under suspension, restricted for a driving offense or in provisional status

Ability to view objects using close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. 
Ability to perform all job duties in a non-climate-controlled environment
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays on a rotating on-call basis, with extended hours during emergency events

Employment Type: Regular

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 0800-1700, with rotating on-call responsibilities during emergencies outside of normal hours

Hiring Range: $67,200 - $90,719
